In Studio with Ashton Likes

We're back in Scutter's studio. It's Ashton's turn this time around. I'm here as the official voice coach, beer lady, and meter maid. Matt's currently working his magic on a tune tentatively titled "Rage At The Deli". (Which in no way reflects the song, but was a great suggestion from our friend Dave who owns a great NY deli around the corner.)

I'll be sure to let you know when there's something worth hearing - so far so good. Additionally, Matt and I have been writing again. And who knows? After last week at Double Door, Jerome and I may record our live duet of "Sexual Healing". What do you think? I kid.

Last night was great. We played an acoustic set in the middle of Valentine Dance Studio's Winter Wishes 2008. Being on that stage brought me back to my theater days. They're such a talented group of kids, and I've always admired dancers. I'm so glad Danny asked us to play, and the best part was our butchered "Papa Can You Hear Me?" duet -after party style.

Time to lay down some harmony....

BWW's Holiday CD Roundup

I am honored to be a part of BroadwayWorld.com's Holiday Roundup! Here's what was said about "Words For The Birds".

Lauren Frost
Words for the Birds
Snowgirl Productions

5 discs (out of 5)

You'll probably remember the name Lauren Frost as the girl who played a young Barbra Streisand in the 2000 Timeless tour or from her Disney series, Even Steven's or from seeing her at BroadwayWorld.com's Standing Ovations IV Benefit. This is her first solo recording and it was not at all what I expected, but conceptually tight, with all but two songs written by Ms. Frost and Matt Scutt. The songs are clever, simple and very well produced and this is very definitely worth a listen. Fresh, fresh, fresh and not a showtune in sight.

Click on the link below to see a full list of featured albums, and their reviews. Thanks, Broadway World!!!!

A Review from RadioIndy

Singer/songwriter Lauren Frost has created a fine collection of memorable pop songs with "Words For The Birds," an outstanding set featuring skillful musicianship, clean production and most notably, her soulful vocals. "Wait & See," "Take It Slow" and "Hello Lovely" are all great examples of her polished and refined sound, intelligent writing, and soaring vocal ablilities. The supporting cast of musicians is very talented, providing exceptional solos and support throughout. Listen to the funky swagger of "Heavy In Your Shoes" and the melodic pop of "Sangria Tale," where Frost's infectious personality really shines through. Another highlight is "Little Boy," which features a percussive groove and showcases Frost's ability to blend harmony and melody so beautifully. The remix version of this track will have you ready for the dance club. "Cheezits" offers a look into Frost's humorous side, and she gives a witty, entertaining performance by once again injecting her personality and style into the track. The album also includes the tender moments of "Whatever Happens" and "Drop Off My Heart" which are expressive, soulful ballads that showcase Frost's immense vocal range. This is an impressive release from a very talented singer/songwriter that is highly recommended for fans of female vocalists and melodic pop. -Rodney and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team

Musical LA Weekend

What a lovely trip to my sunny second home. Thanks to all my friends - the old and the new for your support last weekend. It was great to reconnect, and sing my songs on west coast style. Now for the photos...

GENGHIS COHEN

(Next time you're there, try the sweet and sour chicken..amazing)

The blurry sepia comes courtesy of Alex & Shannon, though not on purpose, I'm sure. They both snapped away while enjoying cocktails (in Alex's case, one cocktail).

These lovely little ones came all the way from Irvine, for a big Friday night out in LA!

BACKSIDE RECORDS

At my table, so very excited about my Coffee Bean

Apparently, I make weird faces when I sing. The good news is, Ashton looks dashing.

My second Mom, Colette. Her son Chas wrote "Promised" on my album.

Colette and Megan dancing to "Little Boy". Is it just me, or does it look more like the Monster Mash than the Cha Cha?

A big THANK YOU to Samantha - my new friend and personal paparazzi!

We had a ball. Thanks to Genghis Cohen and Backside Records for having us. Did I mention that "Words For The Birds" is still available for purchase at Backside? Oh, and if any of you would like to share your photos from that day, email them to me at info@laurenfrost.com.

Elbo Room & Review

Thanks for making our show at Elbo Room a success, and more importantly - fun! (Papa Scutt knows what I'm talking about.) So much fun, in fact, that I didn't have the opportunity to take photos. However, my new phone captured a blurry pic of the crew. Thanks, Crackberry.

I need "how to execute the best funny-faced-expression in a photo" lessons from Tom. Maybe it's a photographer thing?

Moving on...

Check out the new and improved Barbranews.com! Not only is the site fresh and fancy, but there's a review of "Words For The Birds". Thanks Barbranews...and congrats on 24 years!!

I hope you all enjoy your cds.

Goodies...In Link Form

Broadway World (.com) featured an article on "Words For The Birds". To read it, click on the link below:

Thanks, Broadway World!

Also, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jonathan from "The Soothing Sounds of Lauren Frost." He will be posting the interview on his site soon.

I first heard of Jonathan's fan site when a friend called saying, "I'm supposed to be writing a paper right now, instead I'm do
ing puzzles with your face." Naturally, I didn't believe her. So, she gave me the link... and lo and behold...you can indeed do puzzles with my face.

Jonathan created an impressive site, that is both informative and interactive. I'm very honored and grateful. Check it out, his hard work deserves praise! Here's the link:

Last but certainly not least..
Congrats to The Mike Frost Project on their CD release!!
